May Madness

The girls and I attended a Mother-Daughter roller skating event put on by the 4th grade Girl Scout troop. I haven't been on roller skates in years!! It definitely brought back fond memories of being at the roller rink in middle school for me! We all had a lot of fun and Jemma did great for her first time on skates!

The girls both had a lot of fun spirit days leading up to the end of the school year! Jemma's favorite was the crazy hair day.

I got to spend some time with Jemma on the playground for the 2nd grade poetry party. The students worked on their poetry books all year, and were so excited to share their poems with us!

Jemma's Girl Scout troop had a fun visit to the local fire station where they learned all about fire safety, got a tour of the fire house and even got to sit in the front seat of the fire truck!

Nate and the girls had so much fun getting dressed up for the Daddy-Daughter dance put on by the 5th grade Girl Scout troop! It was at a local park under the pavilion, complete with dinner, a DJ and a fun photo booth!

Unfortunately, the morning following the dance (Saturday), Jade woke up with a headache and fever and ended up testing positive for Covid! Jemma tested positive too, but was completely asymptomatic the entire time. The girls both had to stay home and quarantine until the following Friday which just so happened to be the last day of school!! We were all so thankful they were able to go for that last day!

Peace out 2nd & 4th Grade!!

Spring Things

Easter: After Easter basket goodies and church, we headed out to Crystal Lake to celebrate with my parents, my dad's mom (GeeGee) and my mom's sister (Aunt Mar). We had a fun day of delicious food, egg hunts and games!

Open House: After a Covid hiatus, open house night finally resumed at the girl's school! I loved seeing their classrooms and all the work they have done this year!

Band Concert: The 4th grade band put on a great spring concert. Both Grammy and Grampy and Grandma and Grandpa were able to join us for dinner and come cheer on Jade at the concert.

Soccer: Jade had a great spring soccer season. Her team registered in a more competitive league this season and they did awesome, finishing in second place!! Jade was lucky to have Grandma and Grandma and her teacher Ms. Golden come to one of her games this season! Covid caused Jade to miss the last game of the season (Grammy and Grampy, too).

Meet in the Middle

Before COVID we had started an annual "Meet in the Middle" tradition where my family, my sister's family and my parents all met somewhere "in the middle" of our homes for a long weekend.

We were all so happy to resume our tradition! This year's destination was the area around Bowling Green, KY. My dad planned a bunch of fun activities for us to do and found an awesome cabin that included an upstairs loft with 5 individual beds where the kids could all be together!

The weekend started out at Chaney's Dairy Barn for lunch, a farm tour (where we got to see a robotic milking demonstration) and ice cream. They also had a great playground and jumping pillow the girls had fun playing on!

The next stop was the Bowling Green Minor League Baseball Stadium, where we had planned to check out the merchandise store. It was unexpectedly closed for the day unfortunately, so we found Starbucks instead! :)

We got checked in to the cabin, grabbed dinner at Freddy's and then came back for a campfire and s'mores! Nate, Roger and Rowan did a great job getting a good fire going for us!

We had breakfast at the cabin the next morning, and then headed out for a round of bowling, lunch and games at Chuck E. Cheese!

The girls spent the rest of the afternoon shopping and the boys went to the National Corvette Museum. We met up for a great dinner together at Roosters!

We finished up the night with another campfire and s'mores.

The next morning we hung around the cabin and had our final lunch together before everyone headed home. Such a fun and special weekend together!
