Proud Momma

Jade is such a great sleeper! For the last week she has consistently been sleeping a 7 hour stretch during the night. She is falling asleep around 10:30 and not waking up until 5:30. She will usually fall back asleep until about 7:30. 

I have been trying to work Jade into a nap routine to help make the transition easier for both Nate and I when I return to work at the end of June. Jade will usually nap around 10:30 in her swing for about two hours and then again in the afternoon around 2:30 in her crib for another two to three hours!

Date Night

Nate and I finally got our first night out alone since Jade was born! Grammy and Grampy came to babysit Jade (and Charcoal) so we could celebrate my birthday! We started out our evening at the Verizon store where I got a new phone, followed by sushi at Blue Ginger, a walk through downtown Naperville and ice cream at Dairy Queen. It felt so good to get dressed up and to finally have sushi again!

We got a great report from Grammy and Grampy upon our return! Jade was an angel and Charcoal got to play lots of frisbee! Thank you Mom and Dad for letting us get out alone! It was so great to not worry about Jade while we were out because we knew she was in such great hands!

P.S. Jade slept for alomst 8 hours straight last night. I think we should have Grammy and Grampy come babysit more often! ;)

Mother's Day

Nate had to work all day on Mother's Day so Jade and I spent our first Mother's Day just us! The weather was beautiful so we went on a nice long walk and enjoyed swinging on the porch swing. Jade also cooperated nicely for a photo shoot! :)

On Monday I got to spend the day with my mom to Celebrate Mother's Day while Nate watched Jade. We had such a great day beginning with lunch at Benedict's La Strata and pedicures in downtown Crystal Lake followed by an afternoon of shopping! I am so thankful for this time we got to spend together. God has truly blessed me with the best mother and daughter. How did I get to be so lucky!?

1 Month

Jade Marie is 1 month old!!!

Jade had her doctor's appointment today and checked out great! She weighed in at 9 lbs 9.5 oz! She is such a perfect baby and I love that we can take her anywhere! In her first month she has been out to several restaurants and Church and has done great each time!  She is starting to smile more and is able to follow objects with her eyes. We couldn't love her more!

Grammy and Grampy brought back an adorable princess dress from Disney for Jade. She decided to 'show it off' for them tonight! Good thing I got some pictures before she exploded out of her diaper! :)



The Past Few Days

We are finally settling in and things are beginning to feel a lot more 'normal'. This past week I had a check up with my doctor to make sure everything was healing properly and to have some blood drawn. I was so happy to find out everything came back normal since my hemoglobin was still pretty low when leaving the hospital! Jade also saw her doctor this week for a 3 week weight check. She weighed in at 8 lbs 15.5 ounces, which was a 10 ounce gain from her 2 week check! Here are a few pictures from the last few days!

Jade's umbilical cord finally fell off and we were able to do her first tub bath! She seemed to enjoy it as she didn't cry at all!

We have also been working on tummy time. Jade is doing really well and can almost lift her head all the way up by herself! She likes tummy time for about 45 seconds. :) Here is a picture from our most recent session. It's hard to catch her with her head all the way up but I thought this picture was cute anyway!!!

For the first few weeks Jade had been sleeping in the bassinet portion of her pack n play downstairs as we didn't have good luck with the crib at first. Nate and I would take turns sleeping on the couch to be closer to her. Sleeping on the couch was getting old so we decided to try her in her crib this week and so far so good. She typically goes down for the night around 10 and wakes up to eat between 2 and 3 am. If we're lucky she goes right back to sleep until about 7!
