Family Vacation 2018 - Myrtle Beach

We have been back about two weeks now since we embarked on our longest family road trip ever to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, 15 hours!! We really had the best time, and the driving went so much smoother than I anticipated it would! We made stops for gas/snacks/bathroom or meals every 3 hours or so, and split the drive over 2 days! The girls kept busy in the car with their snack boxes, iPads and a variety of coloring, stickers and magnets! Nate was the primary driver, which was wonderful for me, and I was the directions, stops and kids request handler! :)

The Snack Box!!! I would say this was the kid's favorite thing about the drive to Myrtle Beach!

Our main stop for the day was for lunch in Chillicothe, OH!

We arrived in our stopping point for the day, Bexley, WV, around 4:00 p.m. We quickly checked in to our hotel and headed to the Beckley coal mine for a tour!

We finished the day with a quick bite to eat and swimming at the hotel!

We left early the next morning and didn't make a big stop until lunch in Lumberton, NC at Roy's Country Corral. This was a super cute small town family owned place, where Nate and I experienced a traditional North Carolina BBQ plate! Yum!

We arrived in Myrtle Beach shortly after and checked into our hotel! The room wasn't quite ready yet so we drove around a little before heading to dinner and then finally the beach!!

The next day we hit the pools first! Unfortunately, it started to storm so the beach and outdoor pools had to be cleared! We ended up eating lunch at the hotel restaurant and then headed out to Broadway at the Beach where the girls rode some amusement rides and had ice cream! Afterward, we headed back to the beach for the remainder of the afternoon!

The next day we hit the beach first, than the pools! Jade ended up losing her other front tooth during an ice cream cookie sandwich break! She was pretty excited that the Toothy Fairy visited her in Myrtle Beach! :) That afternoon we headed into the downtown to ride the big SkyWheel and of course play some arcade games!

We began our last day at the beach, but encountered another storm passing through so we finished up the morning and early afternoon swimming in the pools! After lunch we headed out to the Ripley's Aquarium, dinner, a park stop and lastly ice cream!!

The girls had fun writing their names in the sand!

They also had fun building countless numbers of sand castles!

The aquarium had a really neat shark tunnel exhibit! You stood on a moving sidewalk as it took you through! The sharks were swimming right over our heads!

We caught the tail end of the mermaid show! Jade was excited to meet the mermaid afterward! ;)

The next morning was rainy, so we just decided to get started on the drive home! The girls did a lot more sleeping on the way home! :)

We had lunch at Chic Fil A and let the girls play for a bit! Our second stop for the day was at a super nice rest stop in Tennessee!

We stayed the night in Williamsburg, Kentucky at the Cumberland Inn! Took this picture in the morning before heading out!

Our last stop of the trip, a children's museum in Colombus, IN!

Followed by lunch and of course ice cream at a really fun old fashioned ice cream parlor, Zaharakos!

They slept most the way home! :)

Such an amazing and special time for us as a family! We are all looking forward to the next family vacation!
